Snap parliamentary elections 2021: election campaign day 11. Updates

15:36 - During a campaign meeting with voters in Vardenis, the PM candidate of the "Armenia" alliance, Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan talked about the problems Armenia is facing today. One of the citizens talked about the issue of reopening the Ministry of Agriculture and mentioned that he had brought a reaping hook against the hammer ( which Nikol Pashinyan uses during his electoral campaign, saying that with the help of the hammer and the steel mandate he is going to establish order in the country) so that Kocharyan could restore the Ministry of Agriculture and "reap the political weeds".

15:17 - Today you are not standing next to us, next to Robert Kocharyan but first of all you are standing next to the country, statehood, your village, relatives, soldier. Standing by our side you have that mission, because the country is in danger, and we must get out of this situation. [Ishkhan Saghatelyan, MP candidate of the "Hayastan" alliance]

15:15 - On June 17 the"I have the honor" alliance visited Shirak region within the framework of the pre-election campaign. The representatives of the alliance, headed by Artur Vanetsyan and Serzh Sargsyan, are meeting with the residents in Gyumri. ["I have the honor" alliance]

14:40 - In an interview once again Kocharyan blamed Armenia for starting the war. Serzh Sargsyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan have also expressed such thoughts during this period. I have a problem with many thoughts expressed by them, which is normal, but this one thesis is simply unacceptable and dangerous. Willingly or unwillingly they have been justifying the Azerbaijani army and military-political leadership for months, because they blame Armenia for unleashing military aggression and not Azerbaijan, that attacked the people of Artsakh and committed many war crimes. They should get 0 votes. [Ruben Rubinyan, MP candidate of the Civil Contract party]

13:06 - Russia and the CSTO are not our allies. I′m sure that our interests coincide with the interests of many countries - Greece, France, the US, and if we look, we will find many real allies. Now Russia forbids us to look for any other ally besides itself. It′s not forbidden to us, but to our current government. [Areg Kyureghyan, MP candidate of the National-Democratic Pole Party]

12:49 - Please, don′t give in to the pressures of the current authorities. We have a lot of work to do together, our country is wounded, they want to humiliate our people. Let's not allow it together. If we make a mistake today, if we give in today, if we break today, tomorrow may be too late. [Ex-deputy PM Armen Gevorgyan calls on community leaders to refuse using administrative leverage]

11:57 - No political force in Armenia can be considered a force with the support of the whole people anymore. As "Bright Armenia" says, the people must win. For the first time in Armenia a government of national unity must be formed in the parliament, where everyone will put aside their small truths and will feel obliged to support that professional government with their own contribution. Only in this case the country can get out of this situation. [Edmon Marukyan, PM candidate of the "Bright Armenia" party]

11:40 - Neither Pashinyan nor his team want to learn anything, they are subject to various influences and lead the country nowhere. It turned out that many of them are not just people from the streets, who have not achieved anything in life, but also people who worked "against" the country before coming to power. In 2018 their thinking hasn’t changed and will not change. Of course, there were individuals in Pashinyan's team who initially declared that the events of 2018 are an opportunity for them to serve the country and the people. But about half a year after the elections, those people mostly set aside their principles and began to serve Pashinyan personally. [Artur Vanetsyan, PM candidate of the "I have the honor" bloc]

11:37 - The international observers of the CIS Inter-parliamentary assembly are starting their short-term monitoring for Armenia’s snap parliamentary elections. On June 19 the CIS observers will attend a ceremony of laying flowers at the Mother Armenia monument in Yerevan. On the same day, they are scheduled to have several meetings in the Armenian Parliament. The monitoring group will hold discussions with the leadership of the Parliament, as well as with the representatives of political forces participating in the elections. In particular, meetings with the heads of the "Prosperous Armenia", "Civil Contract", and "Bright Armenia" parties' pre-election headquarters are expected.
