Russian citizen was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Baku for "terrorism, participation in a criminal union and illegal crossing of the border"

The Baku Court on Grave Crimes has sentenced Russian citizen Eduard Dubakov to 10 years in prison on charges of terrorism, participation in a criminal union, as well as illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan.

According to the Azerbaijani Prosecutor's office, Dubakov was recruited as a mercenary and participated in last year's war against the Azerbaijani army.

The prosecution claims, that in order to commit a provocation, he came from Turkey to Baku, where he was detained. However, Dubakov doesn’t admit the charges and claims that he was recruited by the Azerbaijani special services back in 2018, and that he was in the war zone on behalf of the Azerbaijani authorities.
