During the discussion of the state budget for 2022, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recalled the three priorities of the budget for the coming year: reformation and improvement of the security system, infrastructure development, modernization of education and science.
"The defense budget of 2022 is 11% more than the 2021 plan, amounting to more than 345 billion drams. We will consistently move along the path of creating a professional army in Armenia, but we will do it with smooth, thoughtful steps," the PM said.
According to Pashinyan, in the new security environment, the security of the borders of country continues to be a top priority․ "We have set the task to carry out the security functions more and more every year through border troops, having in the future a vision of implementing the service of only our border troops at the borders. The withdrawal of Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the territory of Armenia, in particular, from the territory of Sotk-Khoznavar, and the beginning of the process of delimitation and demarcation of the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will create favorable conditions for solving this problem," Nikol Pashinyan said.
