Former human rights defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan posted on his Facebook page, stating that handing over Berdzor and Aghavno to Azerbaijan puts Armenia in serious danger. 

"During my last visit to Aghavno, we gathered facts that Azerbaijani servicemen are slaughtering animals (including cattle) and throwing unnecessary organs or organs of dead animals into the water used by the residents of the village. Because of this, rats appeared in the water, and cases of mass water poisoning were recorded, including children and elderly people. All the residents of the village mentioned this.

People's houses were under full observation by Azerbaijan. When people tried to approach their lands for agricultural work (sometimes at a distance of several hundred meters), the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire. People had no opportunity to make a living for their families.

The Azerbaijani authorities conducted and are still conducting a targeted policy of terrorizing civilians and creating an atmosphere of despair. Azerbaijani criminal acts against both Armenia and Artsakh are of the same nature, with aggressive manifestations in Artsakh. How does genocide happen?

And so far, what has Armenia done to use these facts, to make international mechanisms work? The RA authorities have learned a safe internal political formulation for themselves: "Azerbaijan is carrying out ethnic cleansing".

But they don't base it on facts, they don't connect it with genocidal politics and the right to self-determination, but they only use this general wording, moreover - in political contexts and mainly for their internal political propaganda.

But this approach not only does not create big problems or, in general, problems for Azerbaijan but strengthens their positions even more. Giving Berdzor and Aghavno to Azerbaijan is another manifestation of the destructive policy of the Armenian authorities.

This step puts Syunik, in particular, in serious danger, especially while the RA authorities, fearing political dissatisfaction with them and losing their own positions (this is their nightmare, and the positions are more than the security of the country), are hiding or justifying Azerbaijani criminal acts. The criminal presence of Azerbaijani armed officers in the neighborhood of RA villages and on the roads has turned people's lives into an impossibility anyway. 

The Armenian authorities did not receive such a mandate from the citizens of Armenia," Tatoyan states.
