The protest note sent by the Armenian Foreign Ministry to the diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Armenia regarding the visit of the ambassadors of the countries accredited to Azerbaijan to Shushi on July 9, 2021 once again shows that “this country still demonstrates a position that contradicts international law and is based on territorial claims” (quotes-ed.). The statement was made by the Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva.
“We emphasize once again that any visit to the territory of Azerbaijan within its international borders cannot be protested or commented on by Armenia,” she said.
The representative of the Foreign Ministry stressed that “When drawing up a note, the Armenian Foreign Ministry should at least consider what and on what grounds it is protesting.”
“Shusha (Shushi) has already been liberated and, like other liberated regions, is an integral part of Azerbaijan. Visits are being made and will be made here, restoration work is also underway, the legal owners of the city will return to their homes, in short, life will be revived in our cradle of culture,” Leyla Abdullayeva said.
She added, that “It seems that the lack of leadership in the Armenian Foreign Ministry also affects the documents prepared by this body.”
