Negotiations on the opening of two roads have resumed. Vice-Governor of Syunik

Negotiations on the opening of the Karmrakar-Shurnukh, Goris-Vorotan roads have resumed. Narek Babayan, the Vice-Governor of Syunik, told this to “Azatutyun”.

“Part of the Goris-Vorotan road has been closed since the morning. According to my information, negotiations are currently underway, but I can’t say what the negotiations are about,” the Vice-Governor said.

This morning, the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia reported that on August 25, at about 23:00, the Azerbaijani side blocked the Karmrakar-Shurnukh section of the Kapan-Goris interstate road. Cars were evacuated from that part of the road.

Later the Armenian Human Rights Defender reported that Azerbaijani servicemen blocked the road from Goris to Vorotan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said at the National Assembly today that the Azerbaijanis blocked the road, explaining that “an incident took place last night: people from the Armenian side entered and stabbed Azerbaijani border guards.”

Pashinyan officially stated that the information about the stabbing is fake, stressing that the closure of roads contradicts the agreement of the Ministry of Defense reached between Armenia and Russia from December 19, 2020.
