After the 44-day Karabakh war, a trilateral agreement was reached between Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia. After that, negotiations on the delimitation of the border began. Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the Ambassador of the Iran to Armenia, said this in an interview with journalists.
“According to the maps of the Soviet Union, two sections of the Goris-Kapan road of Armenia belong to Azerbaijan, but an agreement was reached on the safe movement of vehicles before the delimitation process,” the Ambassador said.
“The Iranian side, including the embassy, is making efforts to resolve this issue as soon as possible, and we expect from the Armenian government that the alternative road will be built quickly and Iranian drivers will carry out cargo transportation in safe and secure conditions,” Zohouri said.
