President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron sent a congratulatory message to President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian on the occasion of the Independence Day of Armenia.

“Mr. President, dear Armen,

On the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, I send my wishes of happiness, prosperity and success to You, as well as to the Armenian people.

I appreciate the significant path that the Armenian people have taken to create a modern and democratic state since gaining independence exactly 30 years ago. Thus, having overcome a number of challenges, Your country has managed to strengthen the activities of institutions.

France wants to play a role in establishing peace in the region, and it’s in this regard that it’s standing by Armenia to help overcome the challenges it faces a year after the Nagorno-Karabakh war. In this regard, France, in particular, will begin to preserve the cultural and spiritual heritage of the region, reflecting the uniqueness and richness of the South Caucasus.

We will make every effort to find a long-term solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairmanship and achieve stabilization of the situation in the South Caucasus for the benefit of the development and prosperity of the region. It also presupposes the resumption of the dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship. France, as a co-chair country, is ready to provide assistance in this matter,” the message reads.
