The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia are actively communicating through the mediation of the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Georgian Foreign Minister said.
“Today, for the first time in 30 years, Georgia performs an important role and function. As you know, Azerbaijan and Armenia are actively communicating on the direct initiative and with the mediation of the Prime Minister,” said David Zalkaliani in an interview with Georgian Public TV.
“The Georgian government has achieved these first steps, first of all, from the point of view of regional cooperation. We have achieved this important result thanks to our consistency,” he said.
The Georgian Foreign Minister added that with the active support of Europe and the United States active steps will be taken in this direction.
Last month Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili visited Azerbaijan and also plans to visit Armenia. He expressed hope that his personal relations with the leaders of neighboring countries will play a positive role in the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku.
