On November 10, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Paris on a working visit, held a meeting with Foreign Minister of France Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Ministers Mirzoyan and Le Drian discussed issues on further deepening of the Armenian-French privileged relations and reaffirmed their interest in further developing mutually beneficial cooperation. The importance of expanding economic ties between the two countries was emphasized.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France discussed a number of issues on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that a comprehensive settlement of the conflict is possible only through peaceful negotiations under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

The humanitarian issues resulting from the 44-day war were also touched upon. The Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed the need for unconditional and immediate repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war and other detained persons, as well as the importance of preservation of the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage in the territories of Artsakh fallen under control of Azerbaijan.

Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Armenia and Armenian people highly highly appreciate the position and steps of the French Government and Parliament during and following the Azerbaijani aggression unleashed against Artsakh.

During the meeting Foreign Minister Mirzoyan also expressed his gratitude to the French side for the assistance in the fight against COVID-19.
