On 25 March 2022, in reaction to the deteriorating situation in the zone of the peacekeeping operation in Nagorno Karabakh, the Russian Defence Minister, General of the Army Sergey Shoygu, held a telephone conversation with the Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.

The heads of military departments discussed ways to stabilise the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and maintain security in the Transcaucasus.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on the progress of the peacekeeping operation and the humanitarian situation in the area.
