RF MFA claims Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to be the main factor in ensuring security in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a message on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance treaty between Russia and Armenia, TASS reports.

“This is a treaty that largely determined the principles and priorities of our interstate relations. The document has become an important milestone on the way to bringing the bilateral partnership to the level of a true alliance.

Regular contacts based on trust between the leaderships of Russia and Armenia are of crucial importance for the formation of bilateral potential, which provides an opportunity not only to solve urgent problems but also coordinate positions on major regional and international issues.

During the official visit of the head of the RA government to Russia on April 19-20, 2022, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin’s and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan’s joint statement confirms the intention to comprehensively deepen and expand interstate relations based on the principles established by the 1997 agreement.

We are determined to continue to help Yerevan from the position of a key ally in strengthening its defense capabilities and border security and in normalizing relations with its neighbors. We are convinced that the way to stability in the region is through the strict observance of the tripartite agreements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26. The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to be the main factor in ensuring security in Nagorno-Karabakh.

We sincerely value our friendship with fraternal Armenia and are determined to further strengthen the Russian-Armenian alliance for the sake of the prosperity of our countries and peoples.”
