We are determined to further strengthen the Armenian-Russian allied relations for the benefit of the prosperity of our countries and peoples – RA MFA

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, which significantly outlined the principles and priorities of the interstate relations between the two countries, the RA MFA informs․

“This key document outlined the guidelines for the promotion of Armenian-Russian alliance relations in the following years, in the spirit of centuries-old brotherhood, trust, and mutual respect.

The past period has convincingly shown that the further strengthening of historical ties between Yerevan and Moscow fully corresponds to the vital interests of our peoples, serves the goals of the socio-economic development of both countries, and strengthens stability in the South Caucasus. We successfully move forward in a wide range of directions of cooperation, fill it with specific content and increase the effectiveness of interaction.

We reaffirm our steadfast determination to continue the close, mutually reliable dialogue in all directions and to maximize the existing potential for the consistent development of cooperation between Armenia and Russia.

Periodic contacts based on trust between the leadership of Armenia and Russia are of decisive importance for the development of the potential of bilateral relations, which allow not only to solve existing problems but also to coordinate positions on important regional and international issues.

During the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to Russia from April 19 to 20, 2022, the joint statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin recorded the intention to comprehensively deepen and expand interstate relations based on the principles established by the 1997 Treaty.

In this regard, we express our gratitude for the special role of the Russian peacekeepers, which are called to provide appropriate conditions for the restoration of the peaceful and dignified life of the people of Nagorno Karabakh.

Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh highly appreciate the active steps taken by the Russian side aimed at establishing a comprehensive peace, an atmosphere of trust and prosperity in the South Caucasus region.

We are convinced that the way to establish stability in the region is the clear implementation of the tripartite statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26.

We greatly value our friendship with fraternal Russia and are determined to further strengthen the Armenian-Russian allied relations for the benefit of the prosperity of our countries and peoples,” the statement of the Ministry reads.
