Pashinyan and Putin discussed the situation around Nagorno Karabakh
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Prime Minister’s Office reports.
The interlocutors congratulated each other on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between Armenia and Russia. They expressed hope that from now on the mutually beneficial relations between Armenia and Russia will continue to be effectively developed and strengthened in various fields.
Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin exchanged ideas on a number of issues on the Armenian-Russian agenda.
Reference was also made to the situation around Nagorno Karabakh. In particular, the importance of consistent implementation of the tripartite agreements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26 was emphasized.
The US to allocate 60 million dollars to Armenia
The US House Committee on Appropriations has released the State Department’s report on appropriations for foreign operations and related programs for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023.
According to the document, it is planned to provide at least 60 million dollars for the development of Armenia’s economic and private sector, energy independence, democracy, rule of law, and other purposes.
“2 million dollars are also planned for the demining of Nagorno Karabakh. The commission is concerned about the impact of the Karabakh conflict on humanitarian issues and the challenges arising from it in the areas of housing, food, security, water, sanitation, healthcare, and other areas,” the report states.
The connection with Armenia to be carried out through the territory of Hin Shen-Mets Shen villages of the Berdadzor sub-district
The Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs informs that tomorrow, August 30, at 20:00, the connection with Armenia will be carried out by a new route, through the territory of the villages of Hin Shen-Mets Shen of the Berdadzor sub-district.
Until then, the exit from Artsakh to the Republic of Armenia will be carried out through the Berdzor corridor, where Russian peacekeepers ensure the safety of citizens.
At the session of the Artsakh Security Council it was noted that, according to point 6 of the statement signed by the leaders of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Russian Federation on November 9, 2020, the new route will remain as a corridor. Asphalting on the approximately 4.7 km road temporarily connecting the route to the Goris-Stepanakert highway has been completed.
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a message on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance treaty between Russia and Armenia.
“We are determined to continue to help Yerevan from the position of a key ally in strengthening its defense capabilities and border security and in normalizing relations with its neighbors. We are convinced that the way to stability in the region is through the strict observance of the tripartite agreements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26. The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to be the main factor in ensuring security in Nagorno-Karabakh,” the message reads
Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement regarding the anniversary of the treaty between Russia and Armenia.
“This key document outlined the guidelines for the promotion of Armenian-Russian alliance relations in the following years, in the spirit of centuries-old brotherhood, trust, and mutual respect.
We express our gratitude for the special role of the Russian peacekeepers, which are called to provide appropriate conditions for the restoration of the peaceful and dignified life of the people of Nagorno Karabakh.
Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh highly appreciate the active steps taken by the Russian side aimed at establishing a comprehensive peace, an atmosphere of trust and prosperity in the South Caucasus region.
We are convinced that the way to establish stability in the region is the clear implementation of the tripartite statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26.
We greatly value our friendship with fraternal Russia and are determined to further strengthen the Armenian-Russian allied relations for the benefit of the prosperity of our countries and peoples,” the statement reads.
2.124 cases of coronavirus registered in Armenia in one week: 7 people died
2.124 cases of COVID were confirmed in Armenia in the period between August 22-28, the RA Ministry of Health reports, noting that the total number of cases reached 434.398, of which 421.316 were cured, and 8.655 died. In the last week, 1788 citizens recovered, and 7 people died. 2.745 patients are actually under treatment. 6.131 tests were performed in one week. The total number of tests has reached 3.184.464.
