The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Leyla Abdullayeva said that Baku urges Paris to comment on the events and processes in relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia from an objective and neutral position.

“On October 5, answering the question of the pro-Armenian member of the National Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Katrin Colonna expressed her solidarity with the Armenian people and made baseless statements against Azerbaijan,” Abdullayeva said.

According to her, it is not the first time that French politicians show a one-sided pro-Armenian position.

“Against the background of French President Emmanuel Macron’s efforts to establish peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the irresponsible statements of Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna are surprising,” Abdullayeva said.

According to her, “unfortunately, in the past 30 years, French politicians have not made similar statements regarding the crimes committed by Armenia.”

“It would be good if France, a leading country in Europe and offering mediation efforts, adopted a neutral, impartial, and fair position,” said the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
