Regional and international developments were at the core of the discussion between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Norway. RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced this during a press conference with his Norwegian counterpartAnniken Huitfeldt.
“I presented to my colleague the details of the work on the development of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, our position on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
We discussed the situation created after the latest Azerbaijani aggression towards the sovereign territory of RA. We appreciate the specific position of Norway: support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia, as well as the issue of extrajudicial killings of Armenian prisoners of war by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
In this context, we fully hope that Norway, as a pioneer in the protection of democracy and human rights, will continue to adhere to its adopted position,” Mirzoyan said.
In the context of the prevention of new aggressions by Azerbaijan, Mirzoyan emphasized the introduction of international mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the border situation and the support of international partners, including Norway, in this matter.
“I reaffirmed the imperative of the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan, and the unconditional maintenance of the ceasefire regime, emphasizing once again the inadmissibility of solving problems through the use of force or the threat of force,” Mirzoyan informed.
