Member of European Parliament Fabio Massimo Castaldo, who arrived in Armenia on a fact-finding mission, says that the valuable information collected during the mission will allow revealing the objective reality that Azerbaijan has carried out aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

During a press conference today in Yerevan, the MEP said they are deeply concerned and condemn the aggression of Azerbaijan against the territorial integrity of Armenia and the Azerbaijani atrocities committed against the Armenian prisoners of war.

“We hope those found guilty will be held accountable. It’s very important for us to continue these works which have started under our commitments. We condemn the fact that Azerbaijan has not yet returned the prisoners of war after 2020, as well as we have voted in favor of a resolution which condemned the encroachments against the Armenian cultural facilities”, he said.

Fabio Massimo Castaldo said they have visited the Syunik province of Armenia and saw the consequences of the Azerbaijani bombardment.

“The civilian population cannot live under such threats”, the MEP said, calling for continuing the diplomatic efforts and ensuring that any conflict is settled only through diplomacy.

MEPs Peter van Dalen, Fabio Massimo Castaldo, and Lars Patrick Berg arrived in Armenia on a fact-finding mission to get a better understanding of the situation on the ground.
