Armenia's Ex-PM Karen Karapetyan expresses support for Robert Kocharyan

Former Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan has issued a statement on the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"The parliamentary elections on June 20, 2021, are crucial for Armenia's future. Because of the war, our country is in a deep crisis, ceasing the process of which is urgent today.

It must be stated that

 - The combat effectiveness of the army has significantly decreased, the whole security system of Armenia and Artsakh is disrupted,

- Serious social problems have increased, which require the mobilization of all possible resources,

- The internal divisions, agitation, apathy, and passivity in the society have a destructive effect on the development of the society and the state,

- There is a distortion of the role of the state, the political discourse is lowered to a non-respectful level, the state system operates impulsively and not systemically,

- We have a crisis in relations with the diaspora,  the value system and national ideology, and many other problems.

The moment is crucial, the challenges are multi-layered and dangerous, and the solutions are limited and require high professionalism.

We must

- quickly restore our security system,

- establish tolerance and peace in our country and homes,

- have a reputation as a predictable and reliable partner in foreign policy,

- take effective anti-crisis measures to create the prerequisites for a prosperous life,

- restart the effective state management system,

- review relations with the diaspora, turning it from a mere helper into a full-fledged partner and lobbying center for Armenian interests.

Our reality today is a minefield that the country must pass through. There is no possibility to bypass. It is necessary to go through it with big effectiveness and minimal losses. It is necessary to realize the price of each mistake and the inadmissibility of seeking adventures.

Robert Kocharyan can provide that. The combination of personal and administrative qualities required of a director during his occupation in government positions, such as his experience in a competitive and multicultural business environment, allows him to build a professional team to get the country out of crisis and lead to a prosperous future.

He will create an environment where the potential of our society will be realized to the fullest; we will have a national, modern, rational, and productive state.

I suggest you all go and participate in the voting. Think again about what situation we are in, what challenges we have, what is the team that can face them, leading the country to development," Karapetyan wrote.
