It is not our job to hold someone back: Lukashenko responded to Pashinyan's statement that "the accession of Armenia to the CSTO did not stop Azerbaijan from resorting to aggressive actions” |tert.am|

We want the conflict between our two neighboring and friendly states, Armenia and Azerbaijan, to be resolved peacefully, Lukashenko said this at a small session of the CSTO Collective Security Council,  BELTA reports.

The head of Belarus commented on the statement of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia's membership in CSTO did not stop Azerbaijan from aggression against RA.

"It's not our job to hold someone back, but actually we have to respond. This is how we are ready to react," Lukashenko said.

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, announced that one of the priorities of his country's presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will be the settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

"There are nuances, and perhaps serious ones, but now we can thoroughly settle this conflict, which may flare up again," Lukashenko said at the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council held in Yerevan.

However, according to him, such a development of events will become possible only "if, first of all, the leadership of Armenia and, of course, Azerbaijan wants it."

"By the way, I will talk about this, it is one of the priorities of the presidency of Belarus.  We should not turn a blind eye to this, whether we can solve this problem or not, that should be the focus of the CSTO," the head of Belarus emphasized.

Lukashenko also said that increasing the cohesion of the organization will be one of the priorities of the Minsk presidency in the CSTO.

The President of Belarus touched on other topics as well.  He noted that the efforts of the CSTO member states should also be aimed at fighting information wars.

"NATO is strengthening its military presence near the CSTO's western borders. This is done under the pretext of curbing the allegedly aggressive behavior of Russia and its allies.  The West continues to transfer troops, weapons and military equipment to the eastern wing of NATO," added Lukashenko.
