On December 1, the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Hungary, Ararat Mirzoyan and Péter Szijjártó took place in Łódź within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Forum.

The parties noted the deep historical and cultural ties between the Armenian and Hungarian peoples and the common Christian heritage and emphasized the importance of improving relations between Armenia and Hungary. The interlocutors also emphasized the role of the Armenian community of Hungary, officially recognized as a national minority, which is one of the bridges connecting the two countries.

The ministers exchanged ideas on the current stage of relations between Armenia and Hungary. They reached an agreement to restore full diplomatic relations, expressing their intention to open a new chapter in Armenian-Hungarian relations based on mutual trust and respect for international law.

As a follow-up to the meeting, the two governments will appoint non-resident ambassadors to explore opportunities for developing relations, particularly in the fields of trade, culture, education, and tourism. Necessary diplomatic and administrative procedures will begin in the coming days.
