Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Iceland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir spoke about the Lachin Corridor crisis.

He noted that he is concerned about the increasingly unstable humanitarian situation of the people living in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the one-month blockade of the Lachin Corridor.

"I call on the relevant bodies to quickly restore freedom of movement through the corridor to avoid further deterioration of the situation.

I call on all interested parties to resolve their concerns through dialogue and to continue efforts in this direction," he said.

It should be reminded that since December 12, 2022, Azerbaijan has closed the Lachin Corridor connecting Artsakh to Armenia, as a result of which 120,000 residents of Artsakh, including 30,000 children, are under siege. 1100 civilians, including 270 minors, cannot return to Artsakh from RA. Only on January 17, 19 children returned home on the Goris-Stepanakert road.

Due to the blockade, it is not possible to deliver 400 tons of food and medicine from RA to Artsakh every day. there is a shortage of food and medicine.

10 children are in the neonatal and intensive care units, and 9 patients are in the intensive care unit. 4 are in extremely serious condition. During these days, 34 Armenians and 4 foreigners in need of emergency medical care were transferred to RA only through the mediation of the Red Cross, and one of the patients died in Artsakh.

From January 10, the power supply is carried out according to a four-hour schedule of fan outages.

On the morning of January 18, Azerbaijan again disrupted the work of the only gas pipeline feeding Artsakh.
