Speaking to journalists at Freedom Square, former Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian, referring to the 5 proposals put forward by Azerbaijan in exchange for normalization of relations with Armenia, stressed that Azerbaijan’s demand primarily concerns recognition of its territorial integrity. Why don’t we ask the same question to the President of Azerbaijan? Does he recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia? If so, he is obliged to withdraw troops as soon as possible.
“I’m sure that with the help of diplomacy, even in this difficult situation, if we take reasonable steps, we can have the minimum. We have resources, we have former colleagues, former foreign ministers who have a lot of experience. I don’t mean myself. And I think that now we really have to combine all our national and state potential,” former FM said.
During his tenure, were there calls from the international community to lower the bar on the status of Artsakh, which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan mentions?
“The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs made several statements – on December 3 and April 13, and the accents they made fully correspond to our national and state interests,” Aivazian said.
In connection with other statements of the current authorities regarding the status of Artsakh, Ara Aivazian said that he cannot comment on the current authorities.
