It is a provocation organized by Azerbaijan, that led to the fact that we have 2 wounded. We also think that some statements made by the CSTO may have influenced. Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said this in an interview with the Public TV referring to what happened in Verin Shorzha.
“Our main concern in Mr. Zas′s interview was that non-constructive statements can have a negative impact on the peace process and such statements provide some grounds to Azerbaijan for provocation,” he said.
“The stability of the border is currently fragile. Negotiations are underway with the Russia on the deployment of border guards to prevent such incidents. We hope that soon Russian border guards will be deployed in those territories and the borders will be demarcated and delimited,” he added.
According to Armen Grigoryan some of the statements are false.
“This is not a border incident, a border incident cannot last for several months. Mr. Zas noted that there was no victim, but there was a victim, as a result of the incident our serviceman was killed. I think there is a problem with information, we have discussed this issue as well. I hope that the lack of information will be resolved,” he said.
The Secretary of the Security Council noted that steps are being taken to organize the visit of the CSTO secretariat to Armenia.
To the question of whether the issue of appealing to the UN Security Council is on the agenda, Grigoryan noted: “We will use all tools to resolve border issues. All the possibilities remain open on our agenda. If discussions with the CSTO and the Russia do not give results, we will look for other solutions.”
Referring to the agenda of Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Moscow, Armen Grigoryan noted that the agenda includes the trilateral agreements from November 9 and January 11, the situation on the border and the development of Armenian-Russian relations.
