We work openly and transparently on issues of the regional agenda, and we will continue to work with our international partners in this way. I should especially mention the case of Russia, with which the strategic alliance is one of the pillars of our country’s security, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
“We are working closely with Russia in the format of a working group on unblocking regional communications, Russia is involved in discussions on the situation in the Sotk-Khoznavar section, Russia is a OSCE Minsk Group co-chair country and the presence of Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh is a key factor in ensuring security,” Pashinyan said.
He stressed that serious concern is caused by the fact that powerful anti-propaganda is being generated against Russian peacekeepers in Azerbaijan and actions are being taken.
“And I think that the fact that Azerbaijani courts have convicted our POWs for many years of imprisonment is aimed at discrediting Russian peacekeeping forces and Russian peacekeeping mission,” Pashinyan noted.
According to the Prime Minister, the majority of citizens sentenced by Azerbaijani courts were taken prisoner after the signing of the trilateral agreement and the deployment of peacekeeping forces in the areas of responsibility of peacekeepers.
