On February 25, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, as part of his working visit to the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on international and regional security issues. A number of issues related to the Armenian-Russian military cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats were discussed.

The sides highly appreciated the dynamics of the Armenian-Russian allied cooperation and political dialogue, the role and efforts of the Russian Federation aimed at stabilizing the military-political situation in the region, as well as the effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh.

During the discussions, the issues of modernization and reform of the Armenian Armed Forces were touched upon.

At the end of the meeting, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan invited Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu to pay an official visit to Armenia.
