Yesterday the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried had a phone talk with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, after a telephone conversation with the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.

According to the MFA of Azerbaijan, the parties exchanged opinions on the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the implementation of tripartite statements, as well as the statements made after the meetings of the two countries’ leaders through the mediation of the President of the Council of Europe Charles Michel.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan’s well-known position on the need to ensure peace and progress in the region, including the opening of transport and communications, the delimitation of borders between the two states, and the need to start work on a future peace treaty. In addition, he emphasized “the full fulfillment of the obligations of the parties.

In this regard, it was highlighted that, contrary to the obligations arising from the tripartite statement of November 10, 2020, the Armenian armed forces were not completely withdrawn from the territory of Azerbaijan, and its inadmissibility was noted.
