Local and international roads of RA will not be closed during transit from Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan

The National Security Service of Armenia informs that the news spread on the mass and social media that in the case of a possible transit trip by a road vehicle from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan and in the opposite direction, the roads of the local and international importance of Armenia will be closed during transit, which will hinder the free movement of Armenian residents, does not correspond to reality.

We announce that the draft of the government decision “On making additions to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 703 of May 12, 2011” put into circulation by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia envisages the opening of 3 new checkpoints, which will provide an opportunity for transit from the Republic of Azerbaijan to go to the Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan by a road vehicle.

Currently, the possible transit routes and procedures are being developed, in which no local and/or international (interstate) road closures and/or other restrictions are planned for the movement of the Armenian population, as well as foreigners and their vehicles.
