Azerbaijan’s APA agency reports that on August 22, representatives of “Land Reclamation and Water Management” OJSC inspected the Sarsang reservoir with the participation of “local experts”.
It is noted that the purpose of the inspection was to carry out technical monitoring in the Sarsang reservoir and get acquainted with the current situation, and the schedule of water coming from the Tartar River and released from the reservoir.
According to the source, “the meeting and negotiations took place in conditions of mutual understanding and constructiveness”.
It is also noted that an agreement was reached that such meetings and visits to that area will continue in the future.
In a conversation with Infocom, Artsakh’s Territorial Management and Infrastructures Ministry and the Foreign Ministry refused to comment on the information.
Later, the Artsakh Information center issued a clarification stating that since 2021, with the mediation of the Russian peacekeeping troops, the representatives of the Armenian Water Committee Communicate with the Azerbaijani side and make periodic visits to the areas under the control of Azerbaijan to reach mutual agreements and resolve problems regarding the use of drinking and irrigation water supplied to a number of communities (including Stepanakert).
“Within those frameworks, another meeting was organized near the Sarsang reservoir for the purpose of discussing the issue of mutually beneficial use of Sarsang waters,” the clarification stated.
