The Azerbaijanis opened fire from rifle weapons of different calibers in the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border

On October 24, at 8:30 p.m., the units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan opened fire from rifle weapons of different calibers in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The spokesperson of the RA Ministry of Defense reported.

The Armenian side has no losses. As of 21:30, the situation is relatively stable.

OSCE representatives got acquainted with the situation in Goris and neighboring villages

Representatives of the OSCE Secretariat (Chairman: Colonel Robert Arkadiusz Tkachik, representative of Poland) met with the head of the community Arush Arushanyan in Goris and discussed the situation created in the community after September 13, Goris municipality reported.

During the meeting, the consequences of the military operations carried out by the Azerbaijani armed forces against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 12-13 were presented to the OSCE delegation. A number of issues were discussed, including damage to infrastructure, civilians affected by the conflict, and the security situation. OSCE representatives also visited Verishen and Akner settlements. They got acquainted with the situation on the spot and talked with the residents affected by military operations.

The war in Ukraine should not make the world forget the conflicts in Armenia, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, and the Middle East, President of France Emmanuel Macron said.

“Today there are people who are being attacked, and on the other hand, there are leaders who have decided to attack, invade and humiliate. Staying neutral will mean realizing that the law of the strong becomes a general law”, Macron said.

The OSCE needs assessment group visited Syunik and was in the border settlements

On October 23, the OSCE needs assessment group had a meeting with the representatives of the Syunik regional administration.

 The Governor’s Office informs that during the meeting the OSCE delegation was presented with the consequences of the last aggression carried out by the armed forces of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 13.

 OSCE representatives also visited the border settlement to get acquainted with the situation on the spot.

We will continue to support the peace policy – Irakli Gharibashvili

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili announced that the Georgian government continues to support the peace process of settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.  The Prime Minister of Georgia said this after the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Tbilisi.

 “We discussed the current situation in the region, we referred to the latest agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the start of a peaceful negotiation process.  It certainly gives us hope.  Georgia, I and our government declare that we are fully ready to continue the peace policy that we started together.  I also want to emphasize that the peaceful neighborhood initiative does not contradict and does not replace any other format of cooperation.  On the contrary, it will help, and I believe that together we will do many important things,” Gharibashvili said.

Armenia should be ready, we will be ready to start this format even today. Aliyev on Armenia-Azerbaijan-Georgia consultations

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said during a joint statement to the press that there is an opportunity to hold consultations between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.

 “After the Karabakh war, a new situation has been created.  I informed the Prime Minister of Georgia about the ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and we believe that the resolution of this conflict requires the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.  We have already shared five fundamental principles with Armenia, and we hope that Armenia will show political will, start peace negotiations and sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.  If this happens, peace will be established in the South Caucasus and new opportunities for cooperation will appear.

Today we also have the opportunity to hold consultations between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, if Armenia is ready, we will be ready to start this format even today,” Aliyev said.
