Shootings at civilians are another proof of Azerbaijan’s ethnic hatred and genocidal policy – Gegham Stepanyan

Today, the targeted shots fired at the civilians carrying out agricultural work in the territory of Khramort village of Artsakh are another proof of the ethnic hatred and genocidal policy carried out by Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh Gegham Stepanyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“According to the information received by the human rights defender’s staff, the incident was recorded on November 5, around 12:30, in a field located in the administrative area of the Khramort community of the Askeran region of the Republic of Artsakh. Stepanakert resident K. Martirosyan was injured as a result of the fired shots. The “Belarus” brand tractor belonging to him, there were no casualties among civilians. As a result of the firing, agricultural work was completely stopped.

Talking about peace and making false promises of the rights and security of the people of Artsakh, the Azerbaijani authorities and the armed forces continue to conduct a criminal policy that leads to large-scale violations of the most basic rights of the people of Artsakh and undermines the physical and psychological security.

We have repeatedly emphasized that military bases located in the vicinity of peaceful settlements are a direct threat to the lives and other basic rights of the civilian population, the threatening consequences of which we have witnessed many times after the ceasefire was established.

Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing and genocidal policy has not changed and will not change. What is being done under the guise of false pacifism is aimed at misleading the international community and numbing the vigilance of our society,” the HRD statement reads.
