Today, December 17, doctors were protesting in front of the UN office against Azerbaijan’s complete blockade of the people of Artsakh.
Vahe Ter-Minasyan, one of the doctors participating in the action, mentioned that doctors, nurses, and students of the Medical University gathered here.
“We have gathered because it turns out that in the 21st century there may be state terror, and 120 thousand women and men, old people, and children may appear as hostages at once. We know that the most important thing is human life and health,” said Ter-Minasyan.
He said that they have gathered to demand, request and call on all possible international structures to implement possible and impossible measures to ensure the right to life and health of 120 thousand compatriots.
“We will do what we can, we are doctors, and we will do our job, but we cannot close our eyes, not see what is happening, we are obliged, every Armenian is obliged to stand by Artsakh today.”
One of the doctors participating in the action said:
“Armenians are a fighting, creative, peace-loving nation. We are in favor of peace, but we will not allow our nation and relatives to be humiliated in front of the stone silence of the world. Our colleagues are ready to fulfill their professional duty by going to Artsakh, if the international community provides sanitary aviation, many of our colleagues are ready to go tonight and help the seriously ill people who are there.”
During the action, the doctors held placards on which were written “Creating such a humanitarian disaster is fascism”, “Azerbaijan kills all those patients who need medicine”, “Creating unavailability of medicines and medical care is the greatest crime” and other writings.
It should be reminded that it is already the 7th day that Azerbaijan continues to block the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia. On December 12, at 10:30 a.m., a group of Azerbaijanis closed the Shushi-Karin section of the Stepanakert-Goris highway for environmental reasons. Hundreds of citizens, including minors, cannot return home. The transport connection of Lisagor, Mets Shen, Hin Shen, and Yegtsahogh villages of the Shushi region with the capital Stepanakert is interrupted.
Since December 13, Azerbaijan also interrupted the gas supply of the Republic of Artsakh. On December 16, Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan announced that the gas supply has been restored in Artsakh.
