The issue of sending a UN Security Council peacekeeping mission to Nagorno Karabakh has been on the agenda more than once, but any mission can be involved only with the agreement of both sides of the conflict, Baku, and Yerevan. According to TASS, the spokesman of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, said this.
“There are constant contacts at different levels. Of course, this topic has been on the agenda many times. But it is clear that any mission can be sent only with the consent of both parties to the conflict,” said Peskov, answering the question of whether the leaders of Russia and Armenia discussed this topic.
Yesterday, January 10, during a press conference, Nikol Pashinyan once again announced that if it turns out that Russia is unable to fulfill its obligations for objective or subjective reasons, and as a permanent member of the [UN] Security Council, it should apply to the UN Security Council and to either endow the Russian peacekeeping force with an international mandate or send a new peacekeeping mission or a multinational mission to Nagorno Karabakh that will ensure the security architecture established by the tripartite declaration.
