The authorities received enough votes to form a government and elect a president. Arshakyan

Hakob Arshakyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Acting President of the National Assembly, claims that the process of presidential elections in Armenia is legitimate, the authorities have received enough votes to form a government and elect a president. Arshakyan expressed such opinion in a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, referring to the non-participation of oppositionists in the presidential election process and their statements.

"Today is a historic event, because we are electing the President of the Republic of Armenia. And this happens through the election of MPs of the National Assembly, formed as a result of open, transparent parliamentary elections after the revolution of 2018," Arshakyan said.

He added that, of course, political forces have the right to participate or not to participate in the elections.

"The authorities received sufficient votes to form both a government and elect a president, to adopt constitutional laws and fully ensure the legislative field. And its legitimacy is determined not by the statement of one or another opposition force, but by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia," Hakob Arshakyan said.
