We live in a time when the "iron hammer" and the "steel mandate" are above the Constitution: Arthur Vanetsyan's message on Constitution Day

Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the "Homeland" party and the PM candidate of the "I Have The Honor" alliance, sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Constitution Day.

"Our fight for the statehood of Armenia is continuous.

When in the 18th century a group of Armenian national intellectuals in faraway India was drafting the constitution of the then non-existent state of Armenia on the world political map, one could not have imagined that in the 21st century the Constitution of Armenia with the tradition of independent statehood for almost 30 years would be targeted and endangered by the authorities of the day.

Yes, today, unfortunately, we live in a time when the "iron hammer" and the "steel mandate" are above the Constitution, and it is regularly attempted to violate it, to endanger the main law of the Republic of Armenia, aiming not to shape the law in our country, but to shape another power subject to the whims of one person - a fictitious dictatorship of a "person with a hammer".

It is obvious that the development of today's Armenia is possible only in the presence of unifying ideas of the Constitution, unconditional observance of laws, internal solidarity. Due to the determination and will of every citizen of Armenia, the stability of the country and the constitutional bases will be preserved and all the adventurous attempts of a sole rule will be rejected.

The Constitution is one of the most important pillars of the modern statehood of Armenia, from which it naturally follows that the decisive fight against its violations is a fight for the statehood of Armenia.

And in the midst of that fight, we have no right to be discouraged or surrendered, under any circumstances, under any pressure or persecution, under any temptation or misguidance. Therefore, the constitutional fight will be calm, confident, dignified, and in the end, victorious.

This conviction of ours is irreversible. Even a constitution that needs to be amended is far better than unconstitutional chaos, a dictatorship that desperately wants to be born.

Therefore, congratulating our people on Constitution Day, I once again assure that our fight for the statehood of Armenia is continuous, and our vision of Armenia on the path of rebirth is unshakable," Vanetsyan's message notes.
