We have regretfully been discussing security issues very often and a lot in recent times due to regional instabilities. I must say that the situation has been stabilized ever since the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, though some hotbeds of instability arise from time to time. Today I would like to share with you my views and assessments as to why and how this is happening. The situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is still not very stable, and we mentioned this on several occasions. Unfortunately, here too, we have had a hotbed of continued anxiety for the last two months. I hope that today we will be able to synchronize our watches on this issue. Two bodies were evacuated from the territories under the Azerbaijani control
During the search operations in Varanda (Fizuli) and Jrakan (Jabrail) regions bodies of 2 serviceman were found and evacuated. [SSES of Artsakh]
Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Valery Gerasimov discussed issues of Armenian-Russian military cooperation
The acting Minister of Defense of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan had a telephone conversation with the Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov. The interlocutors discussed the situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border areas of Gegharkunik and Syunik regions, the ways to resolve it, as well as the course of the mission carried out by the Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh. Artur Davtyan stressed the need to continue the process of returning Armenian POWs
The Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan attended the meeting of the Coordination Council of Prosecutors′ General of Member-States of the CIS in Saint Petersburg.
During the meeting issues of communication between the Prosecutors′ General offices of Member-States of the CIS, cooperation on international platforms, as well as other issues of common interest were discussed.
After the meeting the Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan had a bilateral meeting with the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov.
During the meeting the post-war humanitarian situation in the Artsakh, issues of ensuring peace in the region and protecting the rights of the population of Artsakh and border regions of Armenia were touched upon.
Stressing the importance of the recent positive shift in the issue of the return of Armenian POWs, Artur Davtyan stressed the need for the unconditional continuation of the process.
The Prosecutor General of Armenia stressed the importance of the work of Russian peacekeepers and other forces to strengthen stability in the region and the constructive role of Igor Krasnov in solving legal and humanitarian problems.
