The Acting Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and the Ambassador of France discussed key issues in the field

Hayk Chobanyan, acting Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte in order to expand cooperation with France in the fields of high technologies.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing the special role of the technological field in the modern world, the acting minister noted that Armenia, based on the excellent scientific traditions of the Soviet Union and the potential of IT companies, holds a leading position in the region, especially in the field of information and engineering technologies. However, given the high speed of technological development and the requirements of the modern economy there is a need for constant updating of the knowledge of qualified specialists. Chobanyan also added that the development of high-tech production is of strategic importance for Armenia. 

Ambassador Jonathan Lacôte noted the importance of the planned visit of the acting Minister to France in terms of developing new prospects for cooperation in the field of high-tech industry and noted that the embassy will provide organizational and consulting support for the implementation of the visit at a high level. The Ambassador stressed that the visit can be especially effective in identifying new areas of cooperation, such as artificial intelligence, satellite programs, the nuclear industry etc.

During the meeting the sides also touched upon issues related to mutual visits for Armenian and French specialists, creation and development of new ecosystem infrastructures in order to develop skills and acquire new skills in the field of high technologies.
