On July 29, at around 8:40 am, the subdivisions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces again opened fire on the Armenian positions located in the Gegharkunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. A short shooting took place, after the actions of the Armenian servicemen the enemy's fire was suppressed. As a result of provocations on July 29, one serviceman of the RA Armed Forces received a gunshot wound. [RA MoD]

Armenia understands its responsibility not to create security threats for the CSTO, not to involve the allied countries in military actions, and I officially rule out any provocative actions by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. At the same time, I think that one of the possible solutions to the issue of establishing the authenticity of mutual accusations of Azerbaijan and Armenia may be the placement of a monitoring mission of the CSTO along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. If carrying out such a mission is impossible, we may have other acceptable international formats, including the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. In the current situation I think it makes sense to consider the deployment of Russian border guards along the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which will make the work on the demarcation of borders possible without the risk of military clashes. Baku court has sentenced another group of Armenian POWs from Shirak to 6-year-imprisonment

The trial on the fake criminal case of another group of Armenian POWs from Shirak continued at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes on July 29. After consultation meeting, the verdict was announced. Each of the 13 Armenian POWs were  sentenced to imprisonment for a period of six years.

We reiterate the inadmissibility of Azerbaijan's attempts to consolidate the illegal occupation of the territories of the Republic of Artsakh, which were seized as a result of the 44-day aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan with the direct participation of Turkey and international terrorists in September 2020. Any actions aimed at making legitimate the results of the violations of international law and the illegal use of armed forces should be strongly condemned. One of such blatant examples of Baku's policy of creating the basis for recognizing its illegal actions as an acceptable norm is the visit of the chairmen of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan to the town of Shoushi, which is under temporary Azerbaijani occupation. We consider it necessary to note the unacceptability and provocative nature of such visits by officials of Azerbaijan and other countries to the occupied territories of the Republic of Artsakh, as they are a gross violation of international law, a challenge to the civilized world and aim to exclude the possibility of creating prerequisites for a comprehensive settlement of the Azerbaijan-Karabagh conflict. We reiterate the inviolability of the position of the Republic of Artsakh that the restoration of the territorial integrity and acquisition of international legal personality by Artsakh are indispensable conditions for achieving a comprehensive settlement of the conflict and establishing lasting peace in the region. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh voiced Tehran's readiness to help restore peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Khatibzadeh expressed concern about continuation of border conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia, calling on both sides to exercise restraint. The Iranian spokesman stressed the need to find a peaceful settlement to the conflict. Urging both sides to respect the internationally recognized borders, Khatibzadeh said Iran is ready to provide any assistance to establish sustainable peace in the region.

On the night of July 28, 2021, military clashes broke out on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as a result of which three soldiers of the Armenian armed forces were killed and four were injured. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Serious concern is caused by the danger of further escalation of tension in the region, which could have a negative impact on the implementation of the agreements in the trilateral format, enshrined in the Statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia of November 10, 2020. A body of an Armenian serviceman was evacuated from Jrakan

During the search operations in Jrakan region a body of an Armenian serviceman was found and evacuated. This was reported by the State Service of Emergency Situations of Artsakh. The identity will be established after forensic medical examination. From November 13, 2020 to July 29, 2021, 1 619 bodies were found as a result of search operations conducted in the territories of Artsakh occupied by Azerbaijan.
