We will try to connect to the highway from the border of Armenia through the ground section, Hayk Khanumyan presented how the traffic will be organized in an alternative way

The road section of the new route leading to Armenia, which passes through Lachin Corridor, Old Shen, Mets Shen, Kanach Tala settlements and reaches the border of Armenia, is already ready. Hayk Khanumyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Artsakh, informed about this in a conversation with Artsakh Public Television, presenting details on the organization of traffic on an alternative route and the construction of new infrastructures.

According to the minister, the 11-kilometer section of the road leading from the RA border to Kornidzor is not yet ready.

"A tender was organized in Armenia on August 1, as a result of which three companies will start the construction of the road section. It is assumed that after the closing of the existing road, we will try to connect the new route with a 3-4 kilometer ground section from the border of Armenia to the highway, thus providing a temporary solution to the problem until the road is built in the Armenian section", Hayk Khanumyan stated, stressing that the new route will operate as a corridor.

"The 5-kilometer section of the road will be completely under the control of Russian peacekeeping troops. So, as in the case of the Berdzor-Aghavno corridor, there will be no Azerbaijani troops or other officials here," he emphasized.

According to the information of the head of the department, the infrastructures that Artsakh needs should also be built near the alternative road.

According to him, time is short, but the work will continue even after changing the route.

"At the moment, the works for the construction of the communication and high-voltage line along that alternative road are ongoing, but
it's not the case when all the infrastructures pass through a completely safe area. Most of them, even now, pass through the territories under the control of Azerbaijan. Therefore, some flexibility, negotiations, as well as the active participation of the Russian peacekeeping troops are necessary to settle all this", said  Khanumyan, adding that active participation of peacekeepers is expected when operating the new route.

According to the minister, it should operate entirely within the area of responsibility of the peacekeeping troops.

Referring to the issue of security of the infrastructures passing through the territories under the control of Azerbaijan, the Khanumyan noted that the enemy is quite close to the vital infrastructures, settlements, and roads of Artsakh, so there is always a fear of encroachment by him. Nevertheless, taking into account the probable and certain scenarios, the relevant works to prepare for them were also carried out.

As it is known, the other day, through the Russian peacekeeping troops, Azerbaijan made a demand to release the Lachin Corridor by August 25, saying that it has built its part of the alternative road.
