Rally and strikes in Stepanakert

Today, on September 15, a meeting is being held again in Stepanakert's Renaissance Square.

"Yesterday, events took place in  Armenia, after which there was a strong need for the people of Artsakh to gather. The moment is critical, we must make our voice heard to the public of the whole world. The people of Artsakh will fight for their rights, the people have come out for a fight", Tigran Petrosyan, one of the participants of the gathering, announced a little while ago in Renaissance Square, quoting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement made in the National Assembly yesterday about taking tough decisions for the sake of peace.

"That speech received a great reaction from the public of Armenia and Artsakh, Pashinyan retracted his words two hours later, and his teammates started to criticize the people who came out for the fight as if they were conspiratorial forces, which is ridiculous. I call on our authorities not to indulge in those games, we will not tolerate it," Tigran Petrosyan declared.

It should be reminded that hundreds of citizens gathered in front of the National Assembly building after Nikol Pashinyan's statements at the NA question-and-answer session. In particular, we are talking about the following statement of Pashinyan: "I took it upon myself to make difficult decisions for the sake of peace. But difficult decisions do not mean decisions that contradict the RA state interests. We must go to those decisions in order to guarantee the security, long-term stability, and peace of Armenia. We cannot write a peace agreement under the title today, and sign under it, as a result of which a new war will start in 6 months. We want to sign a paper, as a result of which many people will criticize us, curse us, call us traitors, the people may even decide to remove us from power, and we will be grateful if as a result of this, RA will receive lasting peace and security with an area of 29.800 square kilometers. I will sign the decision that will ensure this. I am not interested in what will happen to me, I am interested in what will happen to the Republic of Armenia."

The citizens demanded Pashinyan's resignation and that the deputies impeach the RA Prime Minister.

In the evening, "Civil Contract" deputies denied the spreading rumors that any document would be signed, then Pashinyan himself clarified his speech on Facebook live, urging not to be manipulated.

"What I said today means the following that we have adopted a peace agenda, and its implementation does not depend only on one side, it depends on several sides that have a role in this process. Armenia is ready to move forward with the peace agenda. We have publicly stated our positions. Azerbaijan has stated points for the peace treaty, we have said that there is nothing unacceptable for us in those points, but they are not complete and we have completed the agenda presented by Azerbaijan, which also includes the rights of the people of Nagorno Karabakh and the status arising from this."

The opposition, whose deputies had also joined the protesters, announced that they needed 18 more signatures to declare impeachment.

And the leader of the "5165" movement, Karin Tonoyan, issued a statement today, in which she informs about the action plan.
