The World Health Organization (WHO) delegation, which is in Armenia ahead of World Mental Health Day, was hosted by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, RA MOH reports.

The Minister presented Natasha Muscat, director of health policy and systems of WHO European Regional Office, 3 components of providing universal health coverage: primary health care (PHC), implementation of comprehensive health insurance, improving the quality of medical services, the work being done in this direction, discussing the progress of projects implemented in cooperation with WHO.

Also, the experimental program planned in Lori was presented, with which the reconstruction and re-equipment of the infrastructures of the regional primary care unit, training of family doctors, digitalization process, etc. are planned.

The guest highly appreciated the programs implemented in the healthcare sector of our country and noted that the COVID-19 pandemic showed the importance of the primary link and that Armenia has chosen the right direction of reform.

Both sides emphasized the need to integrate mental health care services into the primary health care system.
