The USA will welcome the efforts of any country aimed at the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku.  But we have not seen the Russian efforts that you (journalist, ed.) can talk about.  This is how the representative of the US State Department, Vedant Patel, answered the question whether the US is afraid that Russia may endanger the process between Yerevan and Baku through the mediation of the West.

 It should be noted that earlier the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the West is trying to interfere in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.  “We consider this as an attempt to interfere in the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to suppress Russia’s mediation efforts.  We know from history that EU missions did not lead to real settlement.
