The situation is tense, what prevents the American and French co-chairs in the region from visiting Artsakh? - HRD of Artsakh

Artsakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan made a post referring to the situation on the Lachin Corridor.

"Right now, American co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Louis Bono and French co-chairman Brice Roquefoy are in the region and are having meetings in Baku and Yerevan.

Today is already the 86th day Artsakh is under siege, facing a humanitarian crisis situation and widespread violations of human rights.

On March 5, a subversive group of the Azerbaijani armed forces carried out a terrorist operation against the Artsakh policemen, in which three policemen were killed and one was injured.

The Azerbaijani side continues to issue threats, regularly resorting to military escalation. The situation is tense.

What prevents the American and French co-chairs in the region from visiting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in order to express their determination to preserve the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group and resolve the conflict peacefully?

It is worth reminding that the only format with an international mandate for the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict is the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group. During the aggressive war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh in the fall of 2020 and during the more than two years that followed, neither the co-chairs of the Russian Federation, the USA, nor France visited Artsakh at least once to assess the situation in accordance with their mandate and to find ways out of a difficult situation.

The primary beneficiaries of the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict live in Artsakh, and all your discussions revolve around their fate, so they too have the right to express their position and be heard.

If all three co-chair countries are really interested in the just solution of the conflict, then at least they should show courage to visit Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh)," Stepanyan wrote.
