We expect effective steps from all involved parties to restore the mode of movement through Lachin Corridor - Mirzoyan

Ararat Mirzoyan stated at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed the issues of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, border delimitation and border security, unblocking of all economic and transport links in the region. Besides, they discussed the implementation process, the fact of non-fulfillment of some provisions of the three statements of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan was mentioned.

“Dear colleagues, my visit takes place amid the tense situation in the South Caucasus and, as you know, Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, which has been going on for more than three months. The blocking of Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan is a gross violation of direct obligations within the framework of trilateral statements.

In this regard, on February 22, 2023, the International Court of Justice obliged Azerbaijan to take all measures to ensure the unhindered movement of people and vehicles in both directions through the Lachin Corridor,” he said.

Mirzoyan noted that he expects effective steps from all involved parties to strictly fulfill their obligations and restore the movement regime through the Lachin Corridor in strict accordance with the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9.
