The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan was hosted by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee

Sasun Khachatryan, Chairman of the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, received Masanori Fukushima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to RA.

The chairman of the committee, Sasun Khachatryan, presented to the ambassador the functions of the newly created anti-corruption body of Armenia and the features of investigation of corruption cases, as well as the results recorded during the activity of the structure. At the same time, Sasun Khachatryan expressed hope that the creation and expansion of cooperative ties with Japanese partners will have a positive impact on the work of the law enforcement agencies of both countries.

According to the chairman of the anti-corruption committee, in today's fight against crime, in particular, in the implementation of effective anti-corruption measures, the introduction and use of the latest information technologies is a necessity, therefore, taking into account Japan's rich experience and potential in the mentioned field, Sasun Khachatryan emphasized the development of cooperation in that direction as well.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and considering this meeting as an effective start of law enforcement cooperation between the two countries, the Japanese ambassador, in turn, presented the structure and features of the law enforcement system of their country. At the same time, referring to the fight against corruption in general, Ambassador Fukushima emphasized that it is one of the important factors in the establishment of democratic countries, and from that point of view, he considers the creation of the Anti-Corruption Committee, a specialized body dealing with the investigation of corruption crimes in Armenia, to be a welcome step.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to deepen the newly formed cooperative ties and carry out effective work in the direction of the exchange of experience, mutual visits, and implementation of joint projects within the framework of the fight against corruption.
