On December 21, an online meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Moldova Nicu Popescu, which was attended by RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan.
Appreciating the efforts of the Moldovan presidency to promote economic cooperation in a difficult period for the region, Deputy Minister Vahe Gevorgyan, in the context of the 30th anniversary of the CSTO, emphasized the need to increase the efficiency of the structure and revise the key document “CSTO Economic Agenda”, in relation to which RA presented its proposals. He also referred to the activities of the last period of RA within the framework of the organization and the initiated measures.
In his speech, Vahe Gevorgyan informed about the double-digit economic growth recorded in RA at the beginning of this year, and the significant increase in the volume of foreign trade, which also applies to bilateral trade with the countries of the CIS region.
Referring to the aggressions by Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh and Armenia and the continuous occupation of the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that they seriously endanger the prospects of peace and stability in the region.
In this context, he pointed out the ongoing blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, which on the one hand openly violates the key provisions of the tripartite declaration of November 9, and on the other hand, causes a humanitarian crisis in Artsakh.
As a result of the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adopted resolutions and decisions, as well as approved the 2025-2026 working group of the Tourism Working Group.
