Armenian Foreign Minister and US Secretary of State discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

The sides discussed issues of international and regional security and stability. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan presented the situation that has developed as a result of the penetration of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and the recent aggression against the territorial integrity of Armenia. The interlocutors stressed the importance of taking steps aimed at de-escalating the situation.

 

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in detail. In the context of humanitarian issues requiring urgent solutions as a result of the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, the importance of the repatriation of Armenian POWs, hostages and other detainees was stressed.

 

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stressed the need for resumption of the peace process aimed at a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group. The importance of the role of the United States as a co-chair country was noted.
