Artsvik Minasyan on Restriction on Import of Turkish Products

On December 13, the NA briefings were held. During the briefings followed by the NA regular sittings, the deputy of the RA NA Armenia Faction Artsvik Minasyan, referring to the issue related to the restriction on the import of Turkish products, noted: “Years ago, we have been the author of that initiative in the Government, but in terms of the products that have the opportunity to be received in Armenia as a final product. A policy should be pursued for the restrictions of those goods as ready products and in parallel with this support should be provided to the local producers in order to organize production of such quality with adequate and more progressive rates.”

According to Arstvik Minasyan, what this Government has done is partial and incomplete, because only a formal or nominal restriction is not enough for it to achieve its basic goal, so, according to him, if the package becomes complete, then it can be useful.

It should be noted that by the decision of the Government of 20 October 2020, a temporary ban was imposed on the import of final consumer goods of Turkish origin. The ban then was extended until December 31, 2020. The RA Ministry of Economy suggested the Government to extend the ban on the import of final consumer goods of Turkish origin to Armenia again after December 31.
