PM Nikol Pashinyan reports 49 confirmed victims, claiming it's not the final number

At midnight, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan launched military  actions in the direction of Armenia, in 4 directions, later 2-3 more directions were added, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this while presenting the situation at the National Assembly session

"Azerbaijan is trying to present that these actions were a response to some provocations from Armenia, but we must unequivocally record that this information is completely false and a lie. At the moment, we have 49 victims, confirmed by the Ministry of Defense, but that number is not final. The intensity of combat operations has decreased. Azerbaijan's attacks continue in both directions," Pashinyan said.

Nikol Pashinyan mentioned that a decision was made to apply to the CSTO during the session of the Council of Ministers, and a session of the CSTO Permanent Council is now taking place in connection with that application.

All the claims that the Armenian Armed Forces resorted to some kind of provocations and that Azerbaijan's actions were in response to the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces are completely untrue.

"In recent days, the Azerbaijani side has been constantly spreading information in the genre of information warfare, allegedly regarding the attacks carried out by the Armenian Armed Forces, the Defense Ministry, of course, denied all that because it had nothing to do with reality," Pashinyan stated.

What is happening and why is it happening? Firstly, the first one is related to the negotiation process of the Karabakh issue. Nikol Pashinyan reminded about the 5 points proposed by Azerbaijan and Armenia's response.

"In the beginning, it seemed that there was an understanding on the topic, during the visit, and particularly during the last meeting in Brussels, it was revealed and clarified that, nevertheless, Azerbaijan refuses to conduct peace negotiations based on the principles we presented. You remember that there were several points in those principles. One of them in 2020 was the observance of the principles of the tripartite statements of November 9, January 11, and November 26. The next important point was related to the security, rights, and status of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. Basically, the position of Azerbaijan, which is expressed or was expressed during the negotiation process, is as follows: they said that they do not want to discuss the Karabakh issue with Armenia, because their position is that the Karabakh issue is resolved, or at least it is an internal issue of Azerbaijan, and they do not want to discuss this issue with Armenia," Pashinyan stated.
