Gegharkunik governor claims due to the presence of the EU mission groups, the aggressive actions of the enemy are passive in the border areas of Gegharkunik

On November 9, the governor of Gegharkunik Karen Sargsyan received Laura Di Francescantonio, the head of the Ijevan sub-delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Avetik Pashayan, the territorial representative of the same sub-delegation.

"Expressing gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for carrying out projects in various settlements of the Gegharkunik region, I presented the current situation and security problems in the settlements affected by the recent Azerbaijani shelling, noting that at the moment, the observation and fact-finding groups of the EU mission are also carrying out work in the settlements affected by the shelling of the region, due to the presence of which the aggressive actions of the enemy are passive in the border areas.

Reference was also made to the return of displaced people from some settlements in Vardenis, the housing problems of some families, providing them with temporary housing, the support provided by the RA Government and international donor organizations, the incomplete implementation of agricultural works in the said settlements due to security issues, the destruction and kidnapping of agricultural machinery by the enemy, the prevailing in border settlements other situations, the regulation of which is necessary and urgent.

According to Laura Di Francescantonio, head of the Ijevan sub-delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Cross plans to provide financial support to the residents of some settlements of the Vardenis community of Gegharkunik region affected by the recent shelling and to replace the water heaters damaged by the shelling of some farms in one settlement with new ones.

The programs aimed at providing a mobile medical center for two settlements, providing appropriate equipment and furniture for the morgues, financing project works for the restoration of damaged water lines in the settlements, and training emergency specialists are in the stage of discussion.

The Gegharkunik Governorate, in turn, will provide the Red Cross with the necessary information, which will contribute to the targeting and targeting of the programs implemented in the settlements affected by the aggression unleashed on September 13, 2022," the governor wrote on his Facebook page.
