The Armenian people in the region continue to face existential danger - Ararat Mirzoyan received the UN representative

On December 12, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan received Alice Wairimu Nderitu, Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General on Genocide Prevention, who is in Armenia to participate in the 4th Global Forum "Against the Crime of Genocide". The RA MFA informs about this.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between Armenia and the Office of the Special Adviser, which is aimed at preventing genocides and promoting the global fight against xenophobia and discrimination. In this regard, the "Prevention of Genocide" resolution initiated by Armenia and presented every two years within the framework of the Human Rights Council was highlighted.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Alice Wairimu Nderitu exchanged ideas on the fourth Global Forum "Against the Crime of Genocide", which this year is dedicated to the prevention of genocides in the context of new technologies. The importance of holding the forum was emphasized, considering that new technologies can contribute to the prevention of genocide and other crimes, but at the same time can be used as a tool to commit new crimes.

During the meeting, the RA Foreign Minister emphasized that the Armenian people in the region continue to face existential threats. He considered inadmissible the incitement of identity-based hatred carried out at the highest political level in Azerbaijan, which greatly undermines efforts to establish security and peace in the region. Referring to Azerbaijan's attempts to close the Lachin Corridor, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that it is one of the clear manifestations of the policy of ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan.

It should be reminded that a group of Azerbaijanis closed the Lachin Corridor again today. Azerbaijanis have set up tents there.

The information headquarters of Artsakh reports that the Stepanakert-Shushi interstate road has been closed for 6 hours. Negotiations are still ongoing.

Against the background of the created situation, Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation today. According to the announcement of the RA government, Pashinyan and Putin discussed issues related to the resolution of the situation in the Lachin Corridor.

Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev also had a telephone conversation. The Kremlin's message states that some practical aspects of the implementation of the tripartite agreements were discussed, including the plans for the restoration of economic and logistic ties in the South Caucasus.
